Patricia Underwood’s studio is nestled at the base of Castle Mountain overlooking 22 acres of meadows, woods, ponds and great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, all ideal for sketching, painting and photography. It is just 1 1/2 hours from Washington, DC and 50 minutes from Dulles International Airport.

The studio features a 27“ wide etching press with which she offers workshops in monoprint, collograph, etching and woodcut.

Castle Spring Studio is also proud to offer workshops and lectures by visiting artists.

"On Collecting Fine Art  Photography"

Castle Spring Studio is pleased to host 
Henry J. Ferrand
Henry J. Ferrand, Photographer and Collector, who will lecture on collecting Fine Art Photography.

The lecture will include a slide presentation covering the origins of photography through its acceptance as fine art; identifying collections and collectors alone the way with tips on collecting. He will identify the components and workings of the arts community, outline the criteria of fine art, and explain the pros and cons of the presentation and care of fine art photography.

Mr. Ferrand comes to us by way of New Orleans, LA, his birthplace, and Washington, DC, where he resides and works with artists and collectors to document their work and collections. He has been capturing images for almost fifty years throughout the world. His current work can be seen on his Website www.hjferrand.com and local galleries (Parish Gallery in Georgetown) and exhibition venues (Gaithersburg, MD) in the Washington metropolitan area.

Patricia Underwood
Comes to Rappahannock with over thirty years of experience in the arts. She holds an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts and a Masters Degree in Printmaking. Patricia ran a successful quilt design business for over ten years. She has teaching experience at several colleges and prep schools, most recently at the Maryland Institute, College of Art and the Landon School. She exhibits her own work nationally and internationally. She brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to her students.
